Howdy peeps, checking in after my first night at DDXP. I'll update this thread as I can, and I'll send updates to Ktatroe as I can. Woo hoo!
Okay, so Aesoph and Maijstral braved rain, sleet, snow, and gloom of night in order to pick me up and head for Fort Wayne. En route, we grabbed ourselves a Sienar, and then it was a party! We got to Fort Wayne by a little after 7 PM EST.
Immediately, we ran into Tried, Markdragon, and a fellow miniatures enthusiast from Dallas, TX. They invited us out to the local Irish pub for comestibles. We accepted, but first made a stop in the convention hall to get our badges and such.
After getting our badges, we ran into one Wavester, who gave us some juicy information. Among the prizes one can earn at the Delve will be two repaint minis that were produced for league kits and won't be available anywhere else. Tournament support will include a number of master paint figures, including the original black-robed Raistlin Majere and master paints of many of the other repaints (Greater Barghest, Owl Bear Rager, etc.), and printed sets of cards for the updated sets (not including WotDQ, I think).
WotC will be holding its new product seminar tonight at 6 PM EST. Rumored to be present is the entire Player's Handbook Heroes: Series 1 set and each of the large, visible figures from Monster Manual: Dangerous Delves. We should also get a look at the power cards sets, for those of you who swing that way
The Limited Championship trophy is a gorgeous repainted Githyanki Dragon Knight. Pics to follow.
Okay, what else? The fish and chips were delicious, and the waitress was cute as heck. The hotel and convention center are nice and comfy. Restaurants abound.
Oh, and I've already met several minis players that were previously unknown to me. Conversation with them confirmed for me the theory that we actually have no idea how many people play skirmish, and there are a lot of active pockets of people. Sienar commented, and I agree, that the Guild will be successful if we can connect with those people who play casually in store and at home.
Okay, that's about it. I'll check in when I can. Stay tuned!
